Theodora Geraets was born in Zeist.
She studied in Amsterdam, New York, Düsseldorf and London, with  Davina van Wely, Dorothy Delay, Rosa Fain and Kyung-Wha-Chung.

Besides being experienced performing artist, Theodora Geraets is member of the jury of the major violin competitions in the Netherlands.
Since 1990 she has been a Professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague

• At the age of 10 she won the second prize of the National Youth Music Competition.
• In 1977 she won the Max Rostal Prize as well the Keeler Trophy for the best performance of the commissioned works at the International Youth Competition in Glasgow Scotland
• In 1979 she won the National Violin competition Oskar Back in Amsterdam. She also made her English debut in the Wigmore Hall, London.
• In 1980 she was awarded the first prize of the International Aspen Festival Violin Competition in the State of Colorado, USA, where she was soloist in Bela Bartók’s second violin concerto, under the direction Leonard Slatkin.
• In 1981 she won de Juilliard School Violin Competition in New York. She subsequently gave concerts in the USA with, among others, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.
• In September 1989 she was the first winner of the prestigious Dutch Music Prize for violin.
• 6 years she was the 1e concertmaster of the Limburgse Symphony Orchestra in Maastricht.
• She is a member of several musical ensembles, performs regularly for radio and television throughout Europe, the United States, Central and South America and Asia and makes numerous CD productions for among others, Sony, Channels Classics and Ottavo.
• She has performed in famous concert halls, such as Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Theatro Colon in Buenos Aires and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
• She is also a consultant and inspector of  the Bangkok Symphony Music school and guest Professor at the University of Rangsit in Thailand and gives numerous master classes in The Netherlands as well as abroad.
